Men Charged with Attempted Murder in Illinois, New York Stabbings

A Plainfield man, Dejon Weems, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a 59-year-old man more than 10 times during a fight in Joliet, Illinois. The incident occurred near Cass Street and Eastern Avenue, and the victim was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Police apprehended Weems after a brief foot chase and recovered a sword-like blade and a pocketknife in his possession. In a separate incident in Elmira, New York, Bruce Jones was charged with attempted murder and assault after allegedly stabbing two people, one of whom suffered a neck wound and required hospitalization while the other sustained minor injuries. Jones, who was identified by the victims, was arrested shortly after fleeing the scene. Both cases remain under investigation by local authorities.
