Cavendish to Race Final Event in Singapore

Mark Cavendish, the renowned British cyclist known as the 'Manx Missile', will conclude his illustrious professional career at the Tour de France Criterium in Singapore on November 9-10. Having achieved a record 35 stage victories at the Tour de France, surpassing Eddy Merckx, Cavendish has not competed since this milestone in July. Initially planning to retire in 2023, a crash during that year's Tour prompted him to extend his career into 2024. Recently knighted by Prince William, Cavendish confirmed he would not return to the Tour de France, marking the Singapore event as his final race. Throughout his career, he amassed 165 victories and earned notable accolades, including an Olympic silver medal and the 2011 world road title. The Singapore Criterium, not part of the UCI calendar, will feature other cycling stars such as Chris Froome and Primož Roglič, making it a ceremonial finale to Cavendish's career.
