UK Hosts Taliban Fighters Amid Afghan Data Breach Evacuations
The UK government has secretly airlifted thousands of Afghans, including Taliban fighters, sympathizers, criminals, and corrupt officials, to Britain following a massive data breach that leaked personal information of Afghans seeking sanctuary under the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP). This covert operation, codenamed Operation Rubific, was initially intended to protect those who supported British military efforts, but it was infiltrated by Taliban-linked individuals who exploited family reunification provisions to enter the UK. Some of those relocated include former Taliban operatives who sold weapons to the Taliban and sex offenders, with the Ministry of Defence confirming their presence in Britain. The scheme was kept secret under a rare super-injunction that also prevented any acknowledgment of the injunction's existence, keeping Parliament and the public largely uninformed. Afghan officials have criticized the process, alleging that corrupt local intermediaries facilitated the evacuation of Taliban-connected persons instead of genuine British allies. This controversial resettlement has raised concerns about national security and the integrity of the UK’s evacuation and asylum processes.
