2028 LA Olympics to Feature Majority Female Athletes, Expanded Women's Soccer

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced significant changes for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, marking a historic moment for women's sports. For the first time, the women's soccer tournament will feature 16 teams, surpassing the men's tournament, which will have 12 teams. This adjustment reflects the growing popularity of women's team sports, particularly in the U.S. Additionally, women's water polo will also see an increase to 12 teams, equalizing it with the men's event. Other changes include more women's teams in soccer and mixed-gender events in various sports, contributing to a record number of medals at the Games.
