Man Accused of Multi-Vehicle Carjacking, Theft of Garbage Truck in Everett Held Without Bail

Admilson Vizcaino, aged 33 or 34, was arraigned from his hospital bed on multiple charges, including armed carjacking, attempted carjacking, armed assault, and fleeing the scene, after a chaotic crime spree across several Massachusetts towns. The incident began with reports of Vizcaino acting erratically at a Medford gas station and escalated as he evaded police, committed shoplifting in Billerica, and was later tracked to Malden by a family tip. Vizcaino crashed his SUV in Everett, then allegedly tried to carjack several vehicles at knifepoint before forcibly taking a garbage truck outside Encore Boston Harbor casino. Police used a Taser and then shot Vizcaino as he wrestled the truck from its operators; he was able to drive off, crashing the truck on a Charlestown bridge after hitting multiple objects and causing a significant traffic backup. Vizcaino pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on August 13, as the officer who shot him is on administrative leave. Family members described his recent behavior as highly uncharacteristic, and he has a prior criminal record.
