Newton Teachers Association Ends 11-Day Strike

The Newton Teachers Association voted to ratify a new four-year contract, ending an 11-day strike and allowing students to return to school. The contract, which will cost the city $53m over four years, includes up to 60 days of parental leave, a pay increase of at least 12%, and improved family leave provisions. The Newton School Committee will vote on the contract on Wednesday. Due to the strike, February vacation has been canceled to make up for missed school days.
