Jets Weigh 2026 QB Options After 0-4 Start
The Jets cut Aaron Rodgers in the offseason and signed Justin Fields to a two-year, $40 million deal as coach Aaron Glenn’s preferred, non-celebrity quarterback, but New York sits 0-4 early in 2025. Fields has played roughly 2½ games after a Week 2 concussion and has flashed in Week 1 and Week 4 while also struggling—he has three fumbles and just two passing touchdowns so far. Those availability and production concerns have prompted media and draft analysts to speculate the team could pursue a 2026 rookie quarterback if Fields doesn’t develop into a reliable starter. Prospects mentioned include Oregon’s Dante Moore, Oklahoma’s John Mateer, South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers and Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, and the Jets could also consider trading down to target a high-upside passer. Most analysts say it’s too early to decide; Fields’ future will likely hinge on his health, consistency and whether the front office is willing to draft or trade for a rookie in 2026.
