Sorkin's The Social Reckoning Set for 2026 Release
Aaron Sorkin is writing and directing The Social Reckoning, billed as a companion piece to The Social Network, which Sony Pictures has scheduled for wide release on October 9, 2026. The screenplay, drawn from Jeff Horwitz’s 2021 Wall Street Journal series “The Facebook Files,” follows whistleblower Frances Haugen’s revelations and examines harms to teens, the platform’s role in spreading misinformation and links to political violence including Jan. 6. The cast includes Jeremy Strong as an older Mark Zuckerberg, Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White as reporter Jeff Horwitz, while Bill Burr is in talks to play a fictional or composite character. Production is set to begin soon, with reports citing Vancouver as a likely filming location. Sorkin is producing alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice and Stuart Besser.
