WisdomTree Acquires $1.85B Farmland Manager Ceres Partners

WisdomTree Inc has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ceres Partners, LLC, a specialist alternative asset manager focused on the $3.5 trillion U.S. farmland market and related sectors such as solar, AI data infrastructure, and water. This acquisition, involving approximately $1.85 billion in assets under management across 545 farmland properties, marks WisdomTree's strategic entry into private asset markets and aims to capitalize on the resilient, inflation-protected returns farmland offers. Ceres has demonstrated strong performance with a 10.3% net average annual total return since 2007, outperforming farmland benchmarks. WisdomTree expects the transaction to be immediately accretive and to accelerate long-term earnings growth, aligning with its goals to raise over $750 million in farmland assets by 2030 and to double base fee revenue. The deal also positions WisdomTree as a category leader by offering differentiated, scalable investment solutions in an underpenetrated asset class that is largely uncorrelated with traditional markets. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and approvals, with closing anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2025.
