One Dead, One Injured in Dagsboro House Explosion Drawing Nationwide Firefighter Response
A house explosion occurred on Gum Tree Road near Dagsboro, Delaware, early on September 30, resulting in one fatality and one injury. The two-story home fully collapsed, with the roof blown into a nearby field, prompting a large-scale emergency response involving over 100 firefighters from multiple Sussex County departments and neighboring areas. One male resident was rescued and taken to a hospital in stable condition, while a search continued for a second trapped individual. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office, Delaware State Police, and the ATF are investigating the cause of the explosion. Road closures near the scene remain in effect, and agencies including the American Red Cross and search and rescue dogs have been deployed. State Senator Brian Pettyjohn expressed support and prayers for the victims and first responders involved in the incident.
