Nushki Oil Tanker Blast Kills Three, Injures Dozens
An oil tanker explosion in Nushki district, Balochistan, killed at least three people and injured more than 40, many critically, after a fire broke out during welding work on a parked tanker. The truck driver was killed while attempting to move the burning vehicle away from a depot, and the resulting explosion severely injured firefighters, police officers, and bystanders, with some suffering burns over 70-80% of their bodies. Over two dozen of the most critically injured were airlifted to Karachi and Quetta for specialized medical treatment, following directives from Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti. Emergency protocols were activated at local hospitals, and Chief Minister Bugti visited victims to oversee care and pledge government support. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. The incident highlights the persistent risk of fuel tanker accidents in Pakistan and the need for improved safety measures.
