The 24-year-old athlete experienced unexpected sharp stomach pain, prompting the surgery, which she reported went smoothly. Andreescu had planned to compete in the Merida Open later this month but will now focus on recovery, aiming to return for the clay court season. This setback adds to her recent struggles with injuries, including a significant back issue that kept her out of competition for nine months before her return in May 2024. Despite the challenges, Andreescu remains optimistic about coming back stronger. Her last tournament was the Pan Pacific Open in October 2024.
