The EU General Court has upheld a reduced antitrust fine of 238.7 million euros against Qualcomm, originally set at 242 million euros in 2019, for engaging in predatory pricing to eliminate competitor Icera. The court dismissed most of Qualcomm's appeals regarding the fine, but did find merit in one aspect concerning the calculation of the penalty. The antitrust case stems from Qualcomm's actions between 2009 and 2011 when it provided chipsets to Huawei and ZTE below market cost. Qualcomm maintains that it complied with EU competition laws and disagrees with the court's ruling. Icera, the British competitor affected, has since been acquired by Nvidia. This ruling highlights ongoing scrutiny of major tech firms' market practices in Europe.
