Jeremy Corbyn Makes Onscreen Cameo in North London Wicked Pantomime
Jeremy Corbyn, the independent MP for Islington North and former Labour leader, will make an on-screen cameo appearance as the "Wizard of Oz-lington" in a Wicked-inspired pantomime titled Wicked Witches at the Pleasance Theatre in North London this Christmas. The production, celebrating the theatre's 30th anniversary, features a camp and inclusive festive show with drag performers, and offers two versions: one for all ages and another sexually explicit for adults. Corbyn expressed enthusiasm for supporting local theatre, emphasizing its role in bringing communities together and sparking creativity. The pantomime, which runs from November 18 to December 31, marks Pleasance's first holiday production in over two decades and includes a cast led by drag artists such as Gigi Zahir and Eleanor Burke. Corbyn, who will pre-record his cameo, has recently formed a new left-wing political party called Your Party, following his expulsion from Labour. The production has garnered attention for its playful, camp style and local cultural significance, with theatre head Ellie Simpson highlighting Corbyn's connection to the Islington community.
