Former USMNT and MLS goalkeeper Tony Meola is recovering from a heart attack he suffered on Thursday, just a day before his 56th birthday. Following the incident, Meola underwent a medical procedure and is reported to be in good spirits, with doctors indicating he will make a full recovery. He emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, sharing that he had run four miles just days prior to the heart attack. Meola, who made 101 appearances for the national team and played in the 1990, 1994, and 2002 World Cups, also had a successful MLS career with teams like Sporting Kansas City and New York Red Bulls. Throughout his playing career, he earned notable accolades, including the MLS Cup MVP in 2000 and two Gold Cups with the USMNT. Since retiring in 2007, he has transitioned to a broadcasting role, currently working with CBS Sports Golazo Network.
