Michigan State sued by Hitler

Floris van Pallandt, the owner of The Quiz Channel on YouTube, has filed a federal lawsuit against Michigan State University (MSU) for copyright infringement after the school displayed a quiz question about Adolf Hitler during a football game on October 21, 2023, without authorization. The question, accompanied by a photo of Hitler, drew significant backlash, particularly due to its timing shortly after the outbreak of violence in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Van Pallandt is seeking $150,000 in damages, citing that his quiz was not intended for mass-market use at a college football game and that the incident led to public ridicule of his brand. MSU's athletic director apologized for the offensive content, stating that an employee was disciplined and that the university would implement stricter content approval processes. The university has also pledged not to use the third-party quiz source in the future.
