Flooding in southern Yemen

Severe flooding in Yemen due to heavy rains has resulted in at least 39 deaths, with the southern city of Hodeidah experiencing the highest fatalities at 30, while Taiz reported nine casualties. Approximately 500 families have been displaced as rising waters swept away homes and infrastructure, leaving many without shelter and basic supplies. The floods have also isolated communities, complicating rescue efforts and causing significant damage to agricultural land. Witnesses described harrowing scenes of livestock drowning and food supplies being lost. The ongoing humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by Yemen's civil war since 2014, leaves the population particularly vulnerable to such natural disasters. Emergency response teams are currently assisting thousands affected across multiple districts.
