Sideshow and Janus Films Acquire The Shrouds

Sideshow and Janus Films have secured U.S. rights to David Cronenberg's latest film, The Shrouds, which stars Vincent Cassel as a grieving businessman who invents a technology to monitor the decomposition of deceased loved ones. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was recently showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival, with its U.S. premiere scheduled for the New York Film Festival next month. Set for a theatrical release in spring 2025, the film has garnered mixed reviews, currently holding a 57 on Metacritic and 64% on Rotten Tomatoes. Producers include Saïd Ben Saïd, Martin Katz, and Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, with backing from various international film organizations. The film reportedly offers a personal and thought-provoking narrative reflecting Cronenberg's own experiences of grief. This acquisition continues Sideshow and Janus Films' longstanding collaboration with Cronenberg, having previously released several of his classic titles.
