Andrew Stanton to direct 'Toy Story 5'

Pixar has officially announced the development of 'Toy Story 5,' with Andrew Stanton set to direct the film, which is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026. At the D23 Expo, Stanton revealed that the beloved characters, including Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, will face a new challenge posed by electronic toys and technology. This installment aims to return to the core narrative of the original franchise, unlike the recent spinoff 'Lightyear.' Although the original voice cast's return remains unconfirmed, Tim Allen has shared that discussions with him and Tom Hanks have occurred. The new film follows the critical and commercial success of 'Toy Story 4,' which grossed over $1 billion worldwide and was well-received by fans and critics alike. Stanton, a key figure in Pixar's legacy, has written or co-written all previous 'Toy Story' films and will co-direct this one alongside McKenna Jean Harris.
