Cross-code rugby match for MND

On November 17, Headingley will host 'The 745 Game', a cross-code rugby match featuring legends from Gloucester and Leeds Rhinos, to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research and support. This event honors Rob Burrow, a Leeds Rhinos legend who lost his battle with MND earlier this year, and Ed Slater, a former Gloucester player diagnosed with the disease in 2022. The match will see notable players from both rugby union and league, including Danny Cipriani and Adrian Morley, competing under specially designed rules for a 13-a-side game. The name '745' reflects the shirt numbers of Burrow, Slater, and late Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, who also battled MND. Slater expressed excitement about the match, emphasizing its significance as a tribute to Burrow and a chance to support the MND community. Ticket prices start at £20 for adults and £5 for juniors, with all proceeds directed towards MND initiatives.
