Man Dies Following Fatal Assault in West Dublin, One Arrested

A man in his 30s died following a fatal assault at a residence in the Shancastle area of west Dublin early on Monday morning. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at around 5:50 a.m., finding the man unresponsive and transporting him to John Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was pronounced dead. Another man, also in his 30s, was arrested and is currently detained at a Dublin garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. The scene remains preserved for forensic examination, and a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, with an incident room established at Lucan Garda Station. Gardaí have appealed to the public for any witnesses or dashcam footage from the area between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. to assist the investigation. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course, while a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the victim's family.
