Teen Pleads Guilty in Murder of MJ Daniels

Nytavion Shaw, a 16-year-old suspect in the murder of Southern Miss football player MJ Daniels, Jr., pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on October 1 and faces 20 to 40 years in prison. Daniels was killed on June 11 while sitting in his car outside his apartment in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Shaw was arrested nine days later. The other three suspects, aged 16 to 18, have been charged with capital murder and armed carjacking and remain in jail without bond, awaiting trial. In his plea, Shaw admitted that the murder occurred during an armed robbery. Daniels, a senior defensive back, had previously played for Ole Miss and was a standout athlete at George County High School. His tragic death has drawn significant attention, reflecting the ongoing issues of youth violence and crime in the community.
