Watkins, Hidalgo, Bueckers Named Women's AP All-America Team
JuJu Watkins of USC and Hannah Hidalgo of Notre Dame have made history by being named to the Associated Press All-America team in both their freshman and sophomore seasons, a feat accomplished by only two other players before them. Watkins was a unanimous selection, leading USC to its first Big Ten championship since 1994 with impressive averages of 24.6 points and 6.9 rebounds. Hidalgo also shone, earning both ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors while averaging 24.2 points and ranking fourth in the nation in steals. UConn's Paige Bueckers, who has now received All-America honors three times, and other standout players like Lauren Betts and Madison Booker completed the first team. Coaches praised both Watkins and Hidalgo for their exceptional performances and impact on their teams. This recognition highlights the exceptional talent emerging in women's college basketball.
