Deepthi Jeevanji Wins Bronze at Paris 2024 Paralympics

Deepthi Jeevanji secured a bronze medal in the women’s 400m T20 final at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, clocking 55.82 seconds, behind Ukraine's Yuliia Shuliar and Turkey’s Aysel Onder. This achievement brought India's total medal tally to 16 at the Games, including three golds. Deepthi, hailing from Kalleda village in Telangana, overcame intellectual impairment and financial struggles to excel in athletics. Spotted by Sports Authority of India coach N Ramesh at age 15, she has since won multiple medals, including a gold at the Asian Para Games and the Para World Championships. Despite facing societal prejudices and financial difficulties, her success has inspired her village and the nation.
