Election Commission Prepares for Maharashtra Elections

Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections scheduled for November, a delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, engaged in a series of meetings in Mumbai to review election preparations and security measures. The ECI has demanded explanations from Maharashtra's Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik and Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla regarding delays in submitting compliance reports on the transfer of election officials, which were due by August 20. This compliance is crucial as it involves the reassignment of officers who have served in the same revenue district for over three years. Additionally, the ECI met with representatives from over 23 enforcement agencies and gathered feedback from national and state parties. Meanwhile, a separate committee from the ECI is also working to enhance voter turnout strategies for the Haryana Legislative Assembly Elections. The commission emphasizes the importance of engaging citizens through various technology and media platforms to ensure comprehensive electoral participation.
