Seattle's Overlook Walk to Open October 4

Mayor Bruce Harrell has announced the opening of Overlook Walk, Seattle's newest elevated park, set for October 4, 2024. This park, constructed at a cost of approximately $70 million, is part of the Waterfront Park transformation, the largest civic project in Seattle since the 1962 World’s Fair. Overlook Walk will serve as a direct pedestrian connection between Pike Place Market and downtown neighborhoods, enhancing accessibility to the entire 20-acre Waterfront Park. Mayor Harrell emphasized that this project is a significant cultural milestone, aiming to reconnect the city to its waterfront and celebrate Seattle’s innovation. The park is expected to become an iconic landmark, comparable to the Space Needle and Pike Place Market, offering panoramic views of downtown Seattle and its surroundings. The project represents a collaborative vision for a greener, more accessible urban space, fostering community engagement and tourism.
