Pochettino: MLS Players Have National Team Opportunity

U.S. Men's National Team (USMNT) coach Mauricio Pochettino has expressed that playing in Major League Soccer (MLS) does not hinder players' chances of being selected for the national team, emphasizing that all players, regardless of league, have equal opportunities based on performance. Pochettino acknowledged the competitive nature of MLS, stating it is a physically demanding league that offers a robust training environment. Ahead of the crucial Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal against Jamaica, he made it clear that if MLS players demonstrate their quality, they will be considered for selection. Historically, USMNT has favored players in European leagues, but Pochettino's inclusive approach marks a shift in focus towards domestic talent. He reassured players participating in the upcoming January camp that their performance will be closely monitored. The USMNT currently leads Jamaica 1-0 following the first leg of the quarterfinal.
