Iran Raises 440.9kg Uranium Stockpile Amid Halted IAEA Inspections
A confidential United Nations report reveals that Iran has significantly increased its stockpile of uranium enriched to 60%, reaching 440.9 kilograms by mid-June, which is just a short technical step from weapons-grade enrichment at 90%. This increase of 32.3 kilograms since May raises international concerns about Iran's potential to produce nuclear weapons, as approximately 42 kilograms of this level of enriched uranium could be sufficient for one bomb if further processed. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been unable to conduct on-site inspections since June 13 due to Israeli and US military actions, hindering verification efforts. Satellite imagery and expert analysis indicate that Iran is dismantling and relocating cooling systems at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, likely to protect critical infrastructure from potential future airstrikes. These developments underscore heightened global tensions and the urgent calls for resumed inspections to monitor Iran's nuclear activities closely. The unfolding situation highlights the fragile balance in the Middle East and the risks associated with Iran’s accelerating nuclear program.
