Amazon-Sony God of War Series Plans Filming Vancouver 2026
Amazon's highly anticipated live-action God of War series is set to begin filming in March 2026 in Vancouver, with casting still underway. Originally announced in 2022, the series experienced significant creative changes, including the departure of original writers Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, and showrunner Rafe Judkins in 2024, after which Ronald D. Moore, known for his work on Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, took over as lead writer, showrunner, and executive producer. The show, a joint production between Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television, will follow Kratos as he leaves his violent past in ancient Greece for a new life in the Norse realm of Midgard. Executive producers Cory Barlog, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, and Roy Lee remain attached to the project. While Sony remains tight-lipped about any new God of War video games, this TV adaptation is confirmed as the next major installment in the franchise, with an estimated release window between early 2027 and late 2028. Fans and industry insiders express optimism about the project given Moore's track record and the high expectations for the series’ production values.
