Zelenskyy Meets EU Leaders at Denmark EU Council Presidency Opening

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Denmark to attend the official ceremony marking the start of Denmark’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, where he delivered a speech emphasizing European solidarity and Ukraine's further integration into European structures. During meetings with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the President of the European Council António Costa, and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Zelenskyy highlighted the need to intensify pressure on Russia through defense build-up and sanctions, and called for the use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine's defense industry. Denmark's EU Council presidency aims to focus on climate change, security, and backing neighboring countries like Ukraine. European leaders reiterated their commitment to continued military and fiscal support for Ukraine, with member states having pledged an additional 24 billion euros in military aid since the beginning of the year. The visit also included discussions on joint weapons production and strengthening EU-US coordination on Ukraine's defense, underscoring a united front amid ongoing regional security challenges.
