Manassas Teen Motorcyclist Dies Fleeing Police In Virginia Crash

News summary

A 19-year-old Manassas motorcyclist, Edwin Stephen Essiaw, died after his 2004 Kawasaki ZX-6R collided with a 2024 Nissan Sentra in Bristow shortly before 8 p.m. on Nov. 1 near Linton Hall Road and Nokesville Road. Police say an officer conducting stationary speed enforcement spotted the motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed and, after activating emergency lights, the rider turned off his headlights and accelerated toward the intersection. The motorcycle struck the Nissan as it made a right turn on red from Linton Hall onto Nokesville; the Nissan’s 50-year-old Bealeton driver suffered minor injuries. Essiaw was transported to a hospital where he later died. Prince William County crash investigators are continuing the probe and ask any witnesses to contact police.
