Deutsche Telekom, RTL Group renew streaming pact through 2030

Deutsche Telekom and RTL Deutschland have renewed their streaming partnership for another five years, ensuring that RTL+ Premium is included in most plans of Deutsche Telekom's MagentaTV without extra fees. This bundling offers viewers access to over 55,000 hours of content, including live sports, drama series, and documentaries. RTL+ has exceeded six million paying subscribers as of the end of 2024, marking significant growth from 4.9 million in 2023. The renewal aims to strengthen their position against competitors like Amazon and Netflix and is part of RTL Group's strategy to reach profitability in streaming by 2026. RTL Group plans to further invest in content and migrate RTL+ to a new streaming technology platform by 2025. The cooperation, which began in 2020, reflects the ongoing expansion of their streaming services across Germany, France, and Hungary.
