Apple TV+ Orders Cape Fear Series Starring Bardem

Apple TV+ is set to launch a 10-episode series adaptation of 'Cape Fear', with Javier Bardem starring as the villainous Max Cady, a role previously portrayed by Robert De Niro in the 1991 film. The series, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, aims to provide a contemporary, Hitchcockian thriller that examines America's fascination with true crime. The story follows married attorneys Amanda and Steve Bowden as their lives are disrupted by Cady's return from prison. Nick Antosca, known for his work on 'Hannibal', will serve as the writer and showrunner. This adaptation is based on John D. MacDonald's novel 'The Executioners', which has inspired multiple film versions since its publication in 1957.
