Jeremy Clarkson's racehorse, The Hawkstonian, made his debut at Uttoxeter, where he finished sixth in a field of ten. The four-year-old grey gelding was trained by Ben Pauling and was well backed at 11-2 odds but ran out of steam during the race. The Hawkstonian is part of a syndicate set up by Old Gold Racing, with shares quickly snapped up for £60 each. Notably, the race was overshadowed by an incident involving 28-1 outsider Rochester Brinks, who veered off course and was disqualified after clearing a fence. Clarkson, who humorously named the horse after his beer brand, has high hopes for its future, especially given Pauling's positive remarks about the horse's behavior and potential.
