Wetherspoons Eyes Overseas Airport Locations

JD Wetherspoon is exploring opportunities to expand its presence internationally by franchising its pubs in popular holiday destinations for Brits, such as Alicante, Benidorm, and Majorca. Chairman Sir Tim Martin has confirmed that the company is considering locations in overseas airports frequented by British tourists but has ruled out expanding into China. This move comes after successful franchise partnerships within the UK, including with Haven holiday parks and universities. Although a decision on the first international location is expected within six months, the expansion is still in the early stages with no official agreements signed. Wetherspoon currently operates 796 pubs across the UK and Ireland, and this international expansion would mark its first venture outside these regions.
