Haryana Man Discharged After Mpox Treatment

A 26-year-old man from Hisar, Haryana, was discharged from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital after 12 days of treatment for mpox, having been admitted on September 8 with confirmed symptoms by September 9. This patient was the only mpox case reported in the facility this year, and he successfully recovered from the infection. The hospital has designated isolation rooms for both suspected and confirmed mpox cases, with additional facilities at Guru Teg Bahadur and Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospitals. The World Health Organization recently reiterated the seriousness of mpox, declaring it a 'Public Health Emergency of International Concern' due to its ongoing spread, particularly in Africa. Since 2022, mpox has resulted in over 99,000 cases and 208 deaths globally, with India recording 30 cases up until March this year.
