Binghamton University Begins $5.6M Track and Field Facility Construction

Binghamton University has begun a $5.6 million overhaul of its track-and-field facility, funded significantly by a donation from Visions Federal Credit Union, which secured naming rights for the new Visions Federal Credit Union Track & Field Facility. The renovation aims to bring the 30-year-old facility up to NCAA competition standards with a new track, upgraded event areas for pole vault, long jump, and triple jump, enhanced lighting and safety features, a synthetic turf field inside the track, updated stands, and a modern scoreboard. University leaders, including President Harvey Stenger and Athletic Director Eugene Marshall Jr., emphasized the project's role in supporting both the university's athletic excellence and its student-athletes' development, noting the track program's history of producing national and international competitors like Olympian Emily Mackay. Visions CEO Ty Muse highlighted the importance of raising the university's profile not only academically but also in athletics, expressing pride in the partnership that benefits both students and the local community. The project also receives financial backing from Binghamton's Division of Student Affairs, Division of Athletics, and New York state, with construction expected to be completed by spring 2026. This upgrade is viewed as a vital step in recruiting top athletes and reinforcing Binghamton's status as a leader in intercollegiate sports.
