Grantham school site redevelopment into 60 flats approved

Revised plans to convert a former school in Grantham into a residential development have been approved by South Kesteven District Council. The updated proposal involves demolishing the existing school and workshop to construct 54 new apartments across three three-storey blocks, along with converting the Old School House into six additional apartments. Concerns were raised regarding parking availability, with only 20 spaces planned for the 60 apartments, prompting some councillors to express reservations. However, supporters argued that the development would benefit young commuters due to proximity to Grantham Railway Station and contribute positively to the area. The developer emphasized that the project would preserve a legacy of the former school and improve local infrastructure. The plans received approval despite two votes against them.
