Isla Mujeres Officials Reject Fyre Festival 2 Claims

Billy McFarland has announced Fyre Festival 2, scheduled for May 30 to June 2 on Isla Mujeres, Mexico, but local authorities have denied any knowledge of the event. Edgar Gasca, a representative of the Isla Mujeres tourism directorate, stated they have not been contacted about permits or arrangements, calling the notion of the festival's existence 'naive' and noting several red flags. Despite McFarland's claims of having established connections with local officials, Gasca confirmed that the hotels listed as accommodations are unaware of the festival. The original Fyre Festival in 2017 was a notorious failure, leading to lawsuits and McFarland's conviction for fraud. As of now, no permits have been applied for, and the event's legitimacy remains in question. McFarland, who was released from prison in 2022, is attempting to resurrect the festival concept that has already proven disastrous.
