U.S. Marshals Arrest Two Murder Suspects in Memphis

The U.S. Marshals Service captured two homicide suspects in Memphis on the same day, May 27, 2025. Alvin Justice, 27, was arrested in connection with a May 2024 shooting on Los Angeles Street that resulted in the death of Charles Terry; Justice was found using an assumed identity and faces charges including second-degree murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The second suspect, Damarrius Mathis, 20, was arrested for a March 2025 shooting on Chelsea Avenue that killed Deonte Reed and injured a woman; Mathis faces multiple charges including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Both arrests were made without incident at separate residences in Memphis, with Justice found on Washington Avenue and Mathis on Black Raven Drive in Hickory Hill. Memphis Police Chief C.J.
