Trailer Debuts for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!
Warner Bros. released the first trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, a punk‑rock, 1930s‑Chicago reimagining of Frankenstein that Gyllenhaal wrote, directed and produced, starring Jessie Buckley as the resurrected Bride and Christian Bale as Frankenstein. The film follows Frankenstein enlisting Dr. Euphronius (Annette Bening) to revive a murdered young woman; the Bride becomes more than intended, sparking murder, possession, a combustible outlaw romance and a “wild and radical cultural movement.” The high‑profile ensemble also includes Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal and Julianne Hough, and Warner Bros. has rated the film R for strong/bloody violence, sexual content and language. The Bride! is scheduled for U.S. theatrical and IMAX release on March 6, 2026, with an international rollout beginning March 4, 2026; the project was initially developed at Netflix. Critics note the trailer’s stylish, feminist, genre‑bending tone — bleached‑blonde Bride, dark synth backing and profanity‑laced title cards — and the film arrives amid renewed on‑screen interest in Frankenstein, alongside Guillermo del Toro’s more faithful Netflix take due in late 2025.
