American Library Association Honors Librarian Award Winners
The American Library Association (ALA) has announced the recipients of the 2025 I Love My Librarian Award, recognizing ten exceptional librarians for their significant contributions to their communities. Among the honorees is Jamar Rahming from Delaware’s Wilmington Institute Free Library, known for hosting notable speakers and enhancing community engagement. Abby Armour of Mukwonago Community Library has been recognized for her efforts in repatriating 12,000 Native American artifacts, an initiative that garnered her community nominations. Other awardees include Charlotte Chung, who supports reluctant readers, and Jessica Gleason, who aided residents affected by wildfires in Hawaii. Each honoree will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a stipend to attend the ALA's LibLearnX event in Phoenix, where the ceremony will be held on January 24, 2025. ALA President Cindy Hohl emphasized the vital role librarians play in informing, connecting, educating, and empowering their communities.
