Man Dies After Police Shooting, Self-Inflicted Wound at UNC Campus
A man with an active felony warrant was fatally wounded after a police chase and shootout near the University of Northern Colorado campus in Greeley. The incident began when a Greeley police officer attempted a traffic stop, but the man fled, brandished a firearm, and led officers on a foot chase through the campus. During the pursuit near the Garden Theatre, the man fired his weapon, prompting officers to return fire. The man sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. No officers or bystanders were injured during the confrontation, and the investigation is ongoing with authorities asking for any information related to the case. The Weld County Coroner's Office will release the man's identity in the coming days.
