Uber Rolls Out New Driver Safety Features

Uber has announced the nationwide rollout of two new safety features: rider verification and the Record My Ride initiative. Starting September 18, drivers will see a 'Verified' badge on riders' profiles if their identity has been confirmed through third-party databases or government-issued IDs. This initiative aims to provide drivers with more confidence and reduce complaints. Additionally, the Record My Ride feature allows drivers to use their smartphone cameras to record video and audio during trips, with encrypted recordings accessible only if submitted to Uber for review. These measures respond to driver feedback and follow successful pilot programs in various U.S. cities. Uber has also banned around 15,000 rider accounts due to fake identities and continues to enhance driver safety protocols.
