IPL 2025 Introduces Major Rule Changes

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will feature significant rule changes, including the lifting of the saliva ban, allowing bowlers to use saliva to shine the ball, a practice formerly prohibited due to COVID-19. This decision, backed by the majority of IPL captains, aims to assist bowlers in countering the impact of high-scoring games facilitated by the Impact Player rule. Additionally, a second new ball will be introduced mid-way through the second innings to mitigate the dew factor in night games. Captains will no longer face match bans for slow over-rate offences but will instead accumulate demerit points. The Decision Review System (DRS) will be expanded to include reviews for height and off-side wides, enhancing fairness in gameplay. These updates, alongside tactical innovations and new leadership across teams, are set to make IPL 2025 a thrilling season.
