New $1.3B Plant Boosts Water Access for 10K East Coast Residents

Several significant water treatment projects are underway globally to improve water supply and quality for growing populations. In Guyana, a $1.3 billion plant at Cummings Lodge will treat 12 million liters daily, serving over 10,000 residents and supporting the government's goal to increase treated water coverage to 90% by 2025. In Faisalabad, Pakistan, a new 30-million-gallon-per-day plant is being built to provide safe drinking water to over 600,000 people, funded through a collaboration with the French Development Agency. In the United States, upgrades are ongoing at treatment plants in McAlester, Oklahoma, focused on preventing chlorine discharge, and in Odessa, Texas, where a $75 million project aims to enhance capacity to 55 million gallons per day with improved infrastructure and technology. Additionally, in Ireland, Uisce Éireann plans to upgrade the wastewater treatment system in Roscrea, including construction of new sewer infrastructure and pipe bridges. These projects collectively highlight global efforts to expand access to clean and safe water through significant infrastructure investments and modernization.
