British Tourist Dies After Magic Mushroom Reaction in Thailand

A 25-year-old British tourist died in Thailand after suffering a severe reaction to magic mushrooms he consumed during a holiday with his girlfriend. The couple purchased the hallucinogenic drug from a cannabis shop called The Glory Days in Chiang Mai and began experiencing symptoms about 40 minutes after ingestion, leading to his collapse and subsequent death on December 20. Following the incident, police raided the shop, arresting its owner, Khun Ploy, along with three employees on suspicion of illegally selling narcotics. Investigators found 7kg of magic mushrooms stored at the shop, and Khun Ploy faces charges that could lead to significant prison time. The British Embassy has been notified, and the family of the deceased has been informed. This tragic event raises concerns about the regulation and safety of drug sales in Thailand.
