Barcelona Sign Szczesny Until June 2025
Barcelona has signed former Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny on a short-term deal until June 2025, following the season-ending knee injury of first-choice keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Szczesny, who retired in late August to focus on his family, has come out of retirement just over a month later. The 34-year-old Polish international brings extensive experience, having made over 600 appearances for club and country, winning multiple titles at Juventus and Arsenal. Inaki Pena had been filling in for Ter Stegen, but Barcelona sought a more experienced option. Szczesny is expected to debut against Alaves in La Liga. The signing was facilitated by La Liga's Article 77, which allowed Barcelona to register Szczesny by vacating 80% of Ter Stegen’s salary.
