USDA Warns of Listeria in Walmart Marketside Meals
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert after samples of pre‑cooked linguine used in Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce sold at Walmart tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes as part of an ongoing investigation linked to a Listeria outbreak tied to Marketside chicken fettuccine alfredo meals. The alert covers 12‑oz clear plastic trays with “best if used by” dates Sept. 22, 24, 25, 29, 30 and Oct. 1, 2025, bearing establishment numbers EST. 50784 or EST. 47718. Consumers are urged not to eat these meals and to discard or return them while further testing determines whether the strain matches the outbreak; officials warned additional products could be identified. FSIS said it is coordinating with FDA, CDC and state partners and noted a prior June recall tied to Marketside chicken alfredo that sickened people across multiple states and was linked to deaths and a fetal loss. Health officials reminded that listeriosis primarily threatens older adults, pregnant people, newborns and immunocompromised individuals and advised anyone who becomes ill after eating the product to seek medical care.
