Eoin Tennyson Elected Alliance Party Deputy Leader

Eóin Tennyson, a 26-year-old MLA for Upper Bann, has been elected as the new deputy leader of the Alliance Party, succeeding Stephen Farry, who resigned after losing his Westminster seat. Tennyson was chosen at a special meeting of 190 party members in Belfast and emphasized the importance of connecting with communities beyond traditional heartlands. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and looks forward to collaborating with party leader Naomi Long. Tennyson, who became the youngest MLA in the Assembly when elected in 2022, previously served as a councillor. He acknowledged the healthy competition for the role, noting his friendship with fellow candidate Kate Nicholl. Long praised Tennyson, stating that his experience will greatly benefit the party's future.
